Stories from Italy

Disclaimer: I would tag the pics but apart from the coloseum I forget what that all is, but it's in Rome..

Oh Roma? How much do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

It was a whirlwind trip, there was so much to see and yet so little time, but we somehow made it work. Rome is very interesting. I love the way modern buildings are juxtaposed to the historical buildings. There was so much to take in, the little streets with surprises with every corner you turned. Unlike Barcelona, there's an organised chaos about Rome, and a charm to it too. During the hustle and bustle of the day, you loose the feeling of being in a European country, it had such an African feel to it but once the sun goes down, Rome transforms itself and becomes a romantic capital.

My favorite part of the city was the Travestere. It is exactly as you see Rome being depicted in the movies. Little streets with clothes lines hanging from wall to wall, Restaurants with staff that make you feel like you were dining at home, (I still can't get over the pizza, Pasta, Bruschetta...YUM), The lightest white wine I have ever tasted. There are Bars and restaurants, and a lot of university students just hanging about. I also liked that they stayed open til really late, so at 11 p.m. we could walk into a Gelateria and get some gelato. Their proportions are quite big though. They definitly fill the cup, and not go with scoops. I am still struggling with the weight I gained from all that unhealthy eating, but it was so worth it! I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Heads Up Lacquer lovers

Dear Lovers of Nagel lack (Nail Lacquer) and Artdeco;

Douglas perfumerie in Hamburg Mönckenbergstraße is giving out samples of Artdeco RED nail lacquer No. 25 with every purchase. Go get it while you still can :) Thank me later!

Ignore the sloppiness, I am not in the habit of painting my nails (baby steps).

You can also see the book or maybe I should say books - it's a 3 in 1, that I am currently reading, 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami, so far so good, but am still on book one so full report later!

Lazy Daze

Top - ZARA Jeans - NEW YORKER Shoes - SOMMERKIND

That I have never taken the time out to go through the botanical gardens in Hamburg is puzzling to me too,so when the mister asked if I wanted to go biking there I didn't hesitate.

What does one wear while biking though?

I quickly learned, mint colored jeans was not the wisest of choice, just because they get stained really fast. What I did right though, was wear my sommerkind espadrille superflat flats. Not just for the comfort factor, but also for the print and color effect.

Valentino Garavani at the Somerset House in London

For the love of Valentino and Natalia Vodianova:

Yet another reason I wish I was in London! Valentino is showing some of his most impressive work at Sommerset house. I love Valentino's work, and I was even more marvelled when I watched the documentary "The last emperor". If you are interested in seeing more of Valentino's great works, visit his virtual galarie HERE

Broken Toy

Which one of us doesn't get excited when they recieve a package in the post?? I can hardly contain myself whenever I do.

Today I recieved a package via registered mail from Singapore. The detailed description of contents read 'Toy' on opening it, here's what I discovered

A completely scratched up, bent and broken necklace which I had ordered with my credits from oasap a few weeks ago.

What I ordered looked like this:

I am probably guessing that the packaging and handling was rough, not only is it broken, the leopard print parts as you can see from the third picture is coming off the metal, and what you can't see from my pictures is the scratches on gold plating which is chipping off on the sides. The necklace has also completely lost shape. Also, it was labelled as a 'toy'.. which is what I would attribute the rough handling to.

I will try and send it back and hopefully get a replacement and report back D.I.Y Queens are probably wondering whay I don't just fix it, the truth is, I wanted to fix the 'broken hinges' but when I saw how bent the black part is and how scrached up it was, I decided against it. Has anyone encountered this problem before??
