Ramba Zamba Indoor Festival

OR... The return of the boots...muahahahahahahaha...

A friend of ours invited us to the Ramba Zamba indoor festival this weekend. It was a short do that featured various bands and DJ's. I had a small 'what do I wear' crisis because:

1. It was a festival but indoors
2. It was in the evening

So how does one look 'Coachella' with a sexy twist? hmmmm... one doesn't... so I went for a festive look, et voila!

The festival was really fun. I especially enjoyed an alternative sounding band from Berlin (I think) called 'The love Bülow' and these two dudes from Hamburg (I forget their band name - BAD BLOGGER!!) who played the sickest techno EVAH. After the live show, my friend DJ Jullus was on the decks and it was down to some serious dancing. I also have to add, that there was a lady going round giving out bottles of Jaegermeister and jaegermeister aviators, which was, funnily enough, the perfect finish to my festival look.

80's themed party.... what to wear

OPTION 1: dress + 3/4 tights
80's themed party

OPTION 2: tutu + crop top + tights

80's party

OPTION 3: tights + croptop
80's Fashion

One of my most loyal reader and biggest fan asked me to do a blog post on what she could possibly wear to an 80's themed party.

The first thing that came into mind was Madonna's "Papa don't preach" which is on constant replay for inspirations sake, 21 jump street with Johnny Depp's young handsome self in oversized jeans jacket and Holly Robinson Peete in baggy acid wash jeans and bare mid riff. I also thought of Christina Applegate in "Married with Children" - which surprisingly still airs on German TV.... (Oh the perks of living in a non-english speaking country)

The constants of the 80's fashion scene were the splash of color, mixture of textures, with leg warmers and hand warmers always featuring no matter the weather, baggy jeans, mostly acid wash or light blue and the 3/4 leggings. colorful accesories like the fascinator in the first option or the earrings in the second, nerd glasses, and also huge ear rings. As I did my research, I noticed most outfits were worn with sneakers (hi tops to be exact) and / or flats. Only in a few cases did I see high shoes and those were in form of pointy toed pumps. Anyway, I hope I helped in some way.

PS: This was my first experience on polyvore.....I'll get better with time :)

The Countdown

2010:

2011:

2012: the costume is red!!! the theme is angels on fire and wings of desire and the music just like every year is soca. Berliner carnival is almost upon us, and I am quite excited to be part of the Yard Escobar team. It kinda sneaked up on me, in less than a month, we will be palancing down the Berliner streets on to an arena for an uncoordinated but very fun performance, you get to meet people from all over the globe and wild out with them.

Getting hit by this realisation, I have basically been spending my days working out, and sending out job applications - Not so exciting ay? Still, I have the Berliner Carnival to look forward to. The countdown begins...

Something old Something new Part Deux

Shoes - ZARA box clutch - MANGO

What's old what's new can you tell????

The shoes are... Just a few moments ago, I tweeted that it may be cold outside but it's summer in my living room. The sun shining directly through my windows combined with the heater being on, allows me to walk around with almost nothing on. Which made me stare longingly at my beautiful comfortable new strappy sandals and kinda yearn for a sunny day/oppoutunity to wear them out.

The bag is definitly an ice-breaker. First worn to a casual dinner with a friend, it was a huge surprise how much attention the bag got and how easy it was for them to start a conversation based on my bejeweled clutch. The down side of it is that it can barely fit MILK (Money, I.D, Lipgloss, Keys) or my cellphone in it. Lipgloss, I.D and a credit card and that's it. Still it's so cute that it definitly deserves a few more moments.

Keira Knightley in Interview Magazine

Keira Knightley is one of the few actresses who I'm am having a stormy relationship with. It's mostly love but also has a lot of dissapointment and even hate (I know that's a strong word, but did you guys watch Never let me go?). That aside, it was all love when I saw this spread. I love the edginess ( which fashion has been trying to convince us that smoking is), and just how her facial strength comes out. I can finally say Ms. Knightley is having her fashion moment. The shoot was lensed by Mert&Marcus and her clothing and accessoire's are Louis Vuitton and YSL.

LEOPARD PRINT

shirt+pants - ZARA shoes- Deichmann collar - H&M earrings+rings - BIJOU BRIGITTE

The only print that has not only, never missed a fashion moment in every corner of the globe but also never gone out of style. It was Primarily a masculine print, first adorned by indegenous societies, used as a status symbol and for protection against the cold. The print has gone so much evolution, from the 1940's which saw women taking it over and sexifying it through the emmergence of pin up girls in animal prints. Christian Dior then infused leopard print into his collection, lines, accesories, ad's making it chic and elegant in the 1950's. Then came the hippies who took it over as a symbol of free love. The Punk rockers showed us the dangerous side of it in 1970's. I will skip the 1980's for obvious reasons.

Lately this print has adorned everything from shoes, bags, hats scarves, panties, bedside lamps, you name it.  Wearing this print is not the easiest thing either. It requires an unapologetic sense grandiosity - pardon me if I sound pretentious. It is definitly not a safe print, and depending on how it is styled the end result may be cute or tragic. You be the judge... how did I do?

Back to black

ring+blouse+skirt - H&M bag - MANGO shoes - Deichmann

A month ago I quit my job. It was a very hard thing to do especially because of the relationships I had formed with my clients that ended with my walking away, but as hard as it was, I knew it was time to let go. The job wasn't good for my health and it just wasn't fun anymore.

This morning I had a meeting with my ex-boss to finish up some beauracratic stuff and pick up my letter of recomendation and, and and.... and this is what I wore. It's always tricky with corporate meetings because you have to keep it as simple as possible. In that mindset, I wore practically zero make up apart from mascara and lipgloss. I wore a blazer too, I just took the pics after I took it off.

I have classes later on this evening, but that's more of a casual affair.

Black and Yellow,Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow

jeans+top+necklace - H&M raincoat+bag -ZARA shoes -BCBG (gifted)

I love the way these photos came out... I was totally unprepared for the first 2, and then I let go on the 4th... my eyes - HILLARIOUS!!

The blogger behind thrifted shift recently bought a pair of yellow jeans and gave herself the challenge to wear them at least once a week. being a frequent visitor of her blog, I kinda fell inlove with the idea of yellow jeans, so much so that I went out and bought myself a pair. I won't be wearing mine once a week, just because I saw almost 10 people (male and female) in yellow jeans today and I am not a fan of swimming with the tide - (which is not entirely true, seeing I got myself a peplum skirt today) - Still, they do have a tendancy to brighten everything up. You will definitly NOT blend in the background if you are in yellow jeans. I will probably color block in summer. watch this space.

I digress, the weather is so crazy. Yesterday we had the 4 seasons cycling itself in spans of hours. the sun shone, it rained, then hailed, before we knew it, white powder EVERYWHERE! then the sun was back, wind (repeat cycle) how weird is that?! Might I add, it's almost impossible to pick an outfit!! Here's hoping it gets better.
