Africanism....
Everything - GIFTS
One of those 'Unexpected' free days... As per my tweets, the day trip to Bremen did not happen. I spent my morning chatting with my super stylish sister, and a friend in Stockholm, and organising possibly another crazy short weekend in Stockholm...hmmm...
It's tea time now, sitted on my favorite window pane enjoying the suns rays while sipping tea and biscuits. That's the one habit I will probably never get rid of. I think the whole world should adapt itself to the concept of 4p.m. tea. It's quite lovely.
The dress was a gift from my mum. I will wear it forever. It's sooooooooooo comfortable!
Enjoy your day lovelies.

You stole the sun from my heart
Oh what a day!
I had to get up early to run some errands, it was a bit chilly, but warm enough to get away with this look:

but as the day progressed, it got a bit warmer, so I had to shed off some of the layers...
Dress-H&M, faux fur-TALLY WEIJL, chain - NEWYORKER,Shoes- Deichmann&Zara
Now, it's unbeliveably warm so I have a new outfit all together! I love days like this. Although I am a bit worried that we might have a prolonged winter (Please no). Sun in Hamburg is a rare occurence even in summer. So all this is a bit baffling, still I am enjoying it as much as I can.
This dress is actually 2 sizes bigger. I love how flowy and comfortable it is, perfect for running around town. It's also very versatile and am getting excited just thinking about the different ways I will style it.
My hair is getting bigger! Loves it much better this way than it was before.
So my lovelies, am going to hit the gym then do my 5 hour shift, then come home and be lazy! Y'all be good ok?

Prada RTW SS 2012

I was at work when this show was going on. On twitter everyone who was there made me want to teleport myself to Milan and just be around this beautiful, positive aura that was before the show.
Having the oppourtunity of finally seeing the collection, and some pictures of the seating arrangements (cars everywhere) I understand what the rave was about. Here are some of the pieces that caught my eye. I read a review on vogue.com that where they basically said: Muccia Prada's hot clash of intellectual impulses roared up the runway as a collection about cars and women, which is, ofcourse stereotypical for the way dumb men brag about the two things which they consider as trophies. A joke, ofcourse because when Muccia is revved up, it's about putting the women in the drivers seat - Sarah Mower

Casual Wednesday (Part Zwo)
Am I really that tall or is the cieling too low??
Dress, shoes, belt - H&M bracelet&chain - GIFTS socks - I forgot!!
You'll never know unless you meet me :)
This is what I wore to our dessert day!! (day where we went out and got some really good desserts)... I finally jumped on the polka dot trend bandwagon. for some reason I keep thinking I look absolutely ridiculous in polka dots, but the dress is cute and super comfortable plus it compliments my figure so well, I got it last winter and forgot about it till yesterday.
This is the first time I was wearing the platform brouges as well.. They behaved so that's super! I thought the dress was really hot on it's own so I didn't want to over accesorize it. Am actually quite the minimalist when it comes to accesories.
We found a dessert restaurant but it was closed by the time we were ready to go so we ended up in Winterhude in a cool small cafe/ice cream store/bar/raw food restaurant... with the friendliest waiter in West Germany. It was quite small and intimate. they played Clueso over and over..it was fun.
Then we got home and heard about Troy Davis and the injustices of the world. it was kinda depressing but also a lesson to live your life to the fullest.

The last of the colorblocking
It seems to me, as though everyone has started settling into the dark colors that accompany the season. The sun was shining so I thought, why not color block one more time? There's something about wearing such bright colors that lifts up your spirits immediately.
The peasant top from H&M is perfect for people with small breasts like me, because it gives volume and it's so feminine! The shoes were my first designer shoes purchase. I rememeber the cashier complimenting the shoes over and over again. I changed my hair but I am really not too crazy about this weave, give it a few more days and then I'll try to make it work.
I still have a few errands to run and warmth outside to enjoy. So y'all have a great day!

MULBERRY SS 2012
..... Beauty belongs to the sphere of the simple, the ordinary.....
I just love the simple elegance of this collection and the little details. The long flowing dresses and skirts, the sheer playfulness of some outfits! The different tones, from nudes to yellow to olive green to black! The models with the BIG hair!
This collection makes me excited about next summer. I'd wear all these outfits if I could afford them!

with my head full of brains and my shoes full of feet... partying HARD! and drinking water to purify....
My friends came down to Hamburg from west Germany, and we spent two days straight just partying like rockstars! Was pleasantly surprised that I still had it in me.

J'adore
My new obsession is...
Was 'window shopping' when I saw a cheap H&M version and decided to try them on... I believe I am in love... These baby's came home with me today, and I am sure there will be a few more joining them on the shoe rack.
So excited!!
Tweedledee
Tweed Jacket & clutch - ZARA, chain - MARC CAIN, shirt - H&M Treggings - VERO MODA shoes - random store in Bielifeld.
Love these autmn days when it's not too cold and not too warm.
Not wearing any make up but for the Chanel lipgloss and Chance perfume! Settling for the Zara tweed (which these pics do no justice) but hoping for a Chanel tweed someday ... I hope.
We slept in.... then went for a really long buffet breakfast at MAY. Ate our fill, and now we're chilling, waiting for the darkness to set in so we can go out and play.
PS. I know I really need to do something about THAT hair.

Busy Jumpsuit!!
Go placidly amidst the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence.
And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life keep peace in your soul
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy!

jumpsuit -H&M clogs - DEICHMANN Neckpiece - NEWYORKER
Excerpt from the Desiderata - something that calms me everytime I feel uneasy. Quite fitting for the busy jumpsuit no?
Jumpsuits are so easy and convinient. I love the 70's feel this particular jump suit has.
They say if the dress is busy it's better to have simple shoes. That's why I chose to wear the gladiator clogs I got last summer. Was very excited about getting 2 trends in one, especially because it took a while for clogs to grow on me. Actually there still some versions I wouldn't wear... Oh well.
Glad to finally have a day to just be lazy. Read. catch up on my reality TV (The Rachel Zoe Project SSn 4 Hells yeah!)

Casual Wednessday
You don't have to be a genius to know that these boots are my absolute favorite pair of shoes... I promise I have a few more pairs of shoes, these boots are just super cute, comfortable and easy to pair with almost my whole wardrobe :) plus the frills are just soooooo much fun.
Can we talk about the many faces of the weather. The only thing that missed today was snow, otherwise I have experienced everything from sun to thunderstorms in a time span of 6 hours! Hello autmn! Anyway, before it gets too slippery to be running around in these booties I might as well make use of them.
(Isn't it weird how different I look in all pictures???)
shorts, shirt, sweatshirt - H&M, cuff- random Hawker in Nai shoes - TK MAXX bag -ZARA sunnies - ACCESORIZE
Before and after. See how decent I always look just leaving the house? then I get out and the wind beats me up until I end up like pic no. 2, it gets chilly and my hair no matter how strong the spray ends up doing whatever it wants. The second pic is decent, sometimes it's even worse... you DONT wanna see that :)
Have a great night lovelies!
BLOGGING Vs: TRADITIONAL MEDIA
I was catching up on Bryan's Blog when I ran into this article:
-"Bryan Boy-- this is one of the few blog posts on this topic that has actually sparked my interest. You are right, of course, that the coffee runners are the future of fashion journalism. but so are the bloggers. I can only speak about this from the perspective of a 23 year old trying to break into the publishing and literary magazine scene (for the time being. in a year or two I plan to get an MFA and then do a PHD.) My writing focuses on a few concentrations of material... but(since I am reading your blog after all) often relates to the issues that are important to the fashion industry (or aesthetics of fashion itself.) While the fashion industry throws itself into a tizzy over the differences between bloggers and REAL journalists, writing communities world wide have embraced bloggers and the web without much controversy. the leading voices in contemporary poetry and criticism are those belonging to individuals who have done the same thing i plan to do (the coffee runners of literary publications,) or....belong to some who just wrote, did freelance stuff, struck gold in a contest, or slowly racked up reputations by getting published (without being part of the publishing industry.) Of course, its easier to get published if you've completed an MFA in creative writing or whatever..(connections, professors, colleagues...the usual,) but by no means is it necessary. As with the fashion industry, many older magazines, reviews and zines have gone completely digital due to lack of funding. many writers have broken into communities via blog networking-- all of this is considered standard and respectable. The underlying thread is that each voice deigned relevant by whatever public... shares characteristic resilience, incorruptibility and drive. The successful writers are those who don't give up and spend the time each day learning everything there is to know about their craft and developing a deep and unique relationship with it. same with fashion and fashion reporting. the difference between bloggers and coffee runners be damned, the passion of commitment is the only thing that matters."
Thoughts anyone????
05/09/2011, FASHION AND STYLE, MUSINGS
Sometimes I feel like a broken record every time I answer interviews on this whole blogs vs traditional media hocus pocus. I always cringe whenever I get asked questions pertaining to this comparison. I’m quick to point out that most bloggers, at least the ones who had their blogs for quite some time, started as a hobby, only with the mere intention of sharing life experiences online. Of course, many people now want to be “bloggers” and present themselves as “critics” or what have you. It just happened that people were quick to pigeonhole bloggers as the new journalists when this whole blogging phenomenon exploded no wonder they now carry this unwarranted, heavy burden of being the future of fashion reporting.
What can one do to abolish this way of thinking? That us, bloggers, are shadows of our beloved fashion reporters? That we all want to follow their footsteps? To lump everyone in this basket is somewhat disheartening. Why do we have to impose the same pressures, standards and expectations to the people we respect and admire for years to everyone with a blog? We all know that not all blogs are created equal. To compare different channels is not only a waste of time or space but it also belittles people who spent dozens and dozens of years honing their craft. For instance, I think it’s more insulting to compare an industry veteran to a narcissistic blogger who posts pictures of her outfits online than calling out why a blogger, who has very limited industry knowledge, is not capable of critical thinking. Is it fair to force critical thinking from people whose intention is to keep personal diaries on the interwebs? Just a thought. Of course your teenage blogger has a different perspective than someone with a set of jaded eyes. I’d rather have experts do it.
In twenty, maybe thirty years, the Hilary Alexanders, the Cathy Horyns, the Anna Wintours and the Suzy Menkes of the industry won’t be around. Who should we look up to when it comes to the future? Let me tell you one thing — don’t look at pesky bloggers. Easy target, if you ask me. Don’t look at me either — I’ve always said I’m the Snookie (aka Horse & Hound) of blogging! The future of fashion reporting doesn’t rest on the hands of a laptop-wielding blogger who likes to share portraits to an interested and addicted audience on the internet.
What fashion needs to do is to look closely on the skinny fashion chain. How many university graduates are reduced to fetching coffee or doing sample returns at 1AM while their Editors flirt with the latest Brazilian himbo or sip 30-euro vodka tonics at the Principe? Or what about that nubile, young thing (whose family spent tens, if not, hundreds of thousands of dollars in a college education) giving up the dream of having a byline and now spend his or her time writing emails with “MEDIA ALERT” on the subject line, hawking the latest accoutrement sported by oh, I dunno, Lauren Conrad?
Ok enough rambling from me. I could go on and on and on and make very little sense. I hope you get the picture.
To some extent, I do agree with him. Education is very important and before you give a job to someone who has NO IDEA give it to someone who at least knows the basics. Although passion and drive also comes into play.
I started my blog for fun, I don't know how far it's going to take me but am enjoying myself! I'm getting inspired by a lot of other bloggers out there, and I can say, there are some bloggers who would make really good stylists, others would prosper in beauty and others are just having fun.... There are fine lines.
My point is, as much as education is a plus but determination, and drive are a great factor too. I think fashion bloggers feed off traditional media and vice versa. We rely on each other and get inspired by each other. Using each other to our advantage (which is already happening somehow) should be the way to go.

There were a few comments on the post but this one right here by ALI ABRAHAM, I agree with 100%

Mercedes-Benz NYFW spring 2012
Not in New York???
Bummed that you won't get to see the shows???
Don't you fret, the live runway is here! There is already some pre season coverage going on right now and it is also set to cover some runway shows.
So no one is left out, we will all be able to watch the designer we love, from the comfort of our homes!! Thank you Maybelline New York!
So I have been going through the chanel seeing what they already have, this vid has to be my favorite so far,

If you want a more detailed article on colorblocking (If you are in the other half of the world where summer is just about to begin) you might want to read this ask Nancie article, she goes into the details.
ARRRRGGGGHHH!!!! why you so grainy?!!
Dress-H&M consious collection, shoes - TK MAXX jacket - thrifted gold chain - gifted long chain - ACCESSORIZE stockings - DRUGSTORE watch - DKNY bag - ZARA
The pictures above are testament that I need a new camera...
I swear I have never met anyone wearing this dress in Hamburg! which is quite strange. Sometimes I wonder who shops at the gazilliion H&M's we have in the city. things get sold out so fast, yet when I go out all I see is the lean, mean Jeans army! Hamburg is a big city though, maybe I am just going to the wrong places.
I picked this dress solely for the fact that it was on sale, and when I wore it I was pleasantly surprised...There's alot of tweets going round that people shouldn't wear white after labour day. I hope that's just for the American public, I know I will be wearing this number at least once more before the sun goes to sleep for circa 6 months.
(For my Kenyan readers : didn't anyone go for earthdance?????)

What do you wear when going to IKEA?
Spent the day trying to get a few pieces for my living room. Time flies when you are at Ikea... The best part of it, is going to the cafeteria and just pigging out after everything is done. We all know, when the sun shines SOFT ICE is a must .
The pictures were taken after the whole shebang... you can practically feel my fatigue by looking at my face!

Taking the snake out for a walk...
Dress - H&M, bag and shoes -ZARA, sunnies -K. COLE
TREND ALERT:
Snake skin and leather!
According to various runways (miu miu, Prada, Chloé) and blogs, snake skin and leather is trending right now, so wasn't I excited to find this dress at H&M! well, not really. Truth is I am not really a trend whore, infact I preffer the leopard print to the snake skin. I bought this because of the reaction I got from le BF after trying it on. I must say though, after wearing this dress out, my mind has changed. I love the silky feel of the dress and the leather linings. With this dress you have the trend effortlessly.
The sun came out today (starting to loose faith in German meteorologists! what was that they said about summer being over?) and I decided to take my dress out for a walk. We went to the Botanical Gardens then over to the Alstervergnügen (a festival around the alster river). It was nice.
From the looks I recieved today, I am glad I got this dress :))
